MS9: Week 1 Check-In

Not a stellar week. My down fall, as usual, was trying to curb my cravings and temptations while staying with my family for the weekend. I had cake, a Cinnamon role, and even some Dots. What the hell was I thinking? I knew I shouldn't have eaten them, but I did it anyway. I guess it's only human to err. The important thing is how often it happens and how steadfastly a person recovers. So, even though I was up almost 4 pounds on my weigh in on Monday, as of Today (Wednesday), I was only up 1.7 pounds for this week. That puts me at +1.7 for the milestone and -64 pounds total.

My goal, which is a bit ambitious, would be to hit -67 pounds by next Wednesday. 67 pounds would make me 2/3 of the way to my goal. I remember celebrating the 1/2 mark not too long ago.

Renee did a lean body tissue test again tonight. While I've only lost 11 pounds since her last check, I have lost almost 6 percent of my body fat (meaning a larger portion of my overall weight is coming from lean tissue (muscle). The total weight loss number was disappointing for me (11 pounds in 2 months) but the 6% makes me happy. I'll call it a fair trade off.

Now, I'm back to my original nutrition plan, but Renee advised me to still keep a higher than normal percentage of my calories from protein. For someone building muscle tissue, she recommends eating 1 gram of protein for each pound of lean muscle tissue. That puts me at 134 grams of protein a day. Still a high number but totally achievable.

So, shooting for -67 next week. Wish me luck.

Until later. . .

Think Smart. Eat Well. Move More.

Thanks! I lost the most in my arms -- and back, oddly enough!
