Some Progress

I'm not sure where almost 3 weeks went. I was hoping to post blog entries at least once a week. Now, I see that my last post was 8/8/08. Weight wise, I'm basically at the same weight I was on my last blog. I suppose the sad news is that I was up about 6 pounds at one point but it came back off fairly quickly. So, holding steady on that front.

Two weeks ago (I think) I got weighed and measured by my trainer. My weight was down one pound since my last check in and my BF% went down to 23.55. I'd like to knock another 1.55-2.00 off that number to land around 21%. That may be too aggressive but it's a goal. Since the weigh in, I'm back to working towards heavy weights - low reps again. Starting off with 14-12-10-10-strip. The change was good but the heavy weights always intimidate me when I don't have a spotter. So far so good. I think the intimidation factor is more when I'm doing the 10-8-6-6-strip routine because the weights at 6 reps is pretty darn high.

Sunday (8/24), I ran 3.25 miles in 27 minutes. That about an 8.3 mile/minute pace. I'm pretty happy with that. I'm sure my good results were aided by cool temps. It was around 65 degrees when I set off. After the run, I hopped on my bike and hit the Gateway trail. I biked to Pine Point Park in Stillwater which is about 22 miles round trip. Oy! What a day! The weather was beautiful and I enjoyed every bit of it - and burnt 1,079 calories to boot! The back of my legs were a little sore on Monday but I think I'm mostly recovered now. I'm hoping to hit the trail again tonight, as long as it doesn't rain. I'm not sure if I'll have time for the entire 22 miles as between the run and the bike ride, it was 2 hours (plus about 20 minutes of drive time). Works fine for a weekend morning but is a bit harder to fit in on a weeknight. We'll see. At minimum I want to get the 3mile run in again as the race is less than 2 weeks away!
