MS9: Week 3 Check-In

Ugh. A big see-saw that I can't even blame on a plateau. I'm up and down again for the past 3 or so weeks. The difference is the ups are totally my fault. Bad eating -- well, eating really good things that I shouldn't be eating. This week I'm up 2.8 pounds (AGAIN!) which puts me at +2.6 for this milestone and -63.2 total.

Maybe I cursed myself when I mentioned I was getting close to the 2/3 mark. Not so close any more.

The good news is that even though I fell off the food plan, I did not fall of my exercise routine. Even though it was the long (4 day) Memorial Day weekend for me with the family at the camper (hence the big weight gain), I did get in all of my exercising; both in total time and in occurrences. I drove 20 miles out of my way, one-way, to exercise on Saturday and Monday. I headed off to Buffalo to hit the Anytime Fitness there. So, I guess it's not all bad.

The other good news is that I did measurements again (I did them versus Renee). Since April 16th, I've lost 3.5 inches total. That's about .6 of an inch off each measurement point (waist, chest, hips, thigh, calf, and bicep). That alone should help me continue on the exercise path since according to the scale, I've only lost 5.6 pounds since 4/16. I must be gaining muscle and toning down.

Last thought for today. Self-image. While, intellectually, I know I've lost 63 pounds. I've lost 31 pounds and more than 12 inches all around since hiring my trainer. I've dropped about 6 pant sizes since the beginning. I've gone from buying 1x or 2x shirts to buying larges. But, when I stand in front of a full-length mirror, I pretty much see the same me. The same me as every other time I've looked in mirror whether it was 2 days ago or 20 years ago. How do you adjust the image your mind receives from your eyes? How you your alter or update your perception of yourself? Crazy. Fortunately, I place the heaviest weight (no pun intended) on the tangible things like the number on the scale, the BMI Renee does, or basic measurements. It just seems odd to me. Oh well.

Until later. . .

Think Smart. Eat Well. Move More.
