MS11: Week 3 Check In

There are new clothes in my closet. I went shopping last Thursday and bought some new work clothes. I had two motivating factors. First, my clothes out grew me. =) Second, and related, I really didn't have any clothes -- especially fall or early winter -- that fit me. On a whim, we stopped at Eddie Bauer. The bad news is I ended up spending way more money than I intended. The good news is I found lots of cool stuff. The color schemes this year are perfect for me (browns, wine tones, and dark purple). The better news is I bought a long-sleeve fitted dress shirt, three sweaters, and a blouse that are all mediums. I also bought two pairs of pants that are size 12. I can honestly say that this is the first time in my life where I bought either of these sizes. Even in high school, I think I went right from the high end of the junior sizes to a 14/16 in women's. That's so awesome! Technically, I'm only about 5-8 pounds less than my lowest weight during the 'diet of 96'. The difference is I was buying size 16 then. I guess that goes to show me that cardio isn't enough. Adding in strength training has caused a tremendous amount of change in my body size and composition.

The thing I'm still dealing with is my perception of how my body looks. On one hand, I see the sizes (medium / size 12) and am so excited because, wow, based on my history, it's a very small size. And they fit well - not snug or too small. They FIT. Emotionally and in my minds eye, I don't feel like a size 12. I've posted on this before -- learning to adapt and update my perception of my self image. I truly don't know how to do that. At this point, I'll just keep telling myself "you look maaavalous" and I'll remind myself that it's not the number on the scale, it's the size that matters (oh, that's entirely too funny!!). I think I'm getting fairly close to the point where the number on the scale will be a reminder and a check in point to make sure I'm not straying and I'm staying on track. It'll be how I feel, what size I wear, and how those sizes fit me that will be the true judge of the rest of my progress.

So, for this week...
-0.6 pounds for the week;
-3.8 for the milestone;
-76.2 total
I met my exercise goal in total minutes (270 of 270 minutes) and I got in three lifting days and two cardio days.

Until later . . .

Think Smart. Eat Well. Move More.
