MS12: Week 4 Check-In

So many thoughts running through my mind this week. The one I'll post now is this. Lately, my weight loss has been proceeding at a rate that matches someone who is learning how to drive a manual transmission. I've been having many sudden stops and starts. This week, the sudden start was a full-blown lurch. Four weeks ago, I lost 4 pounds in one week. That was followed by three weeks of small to medium-sized gains (.6, .2, and 1.2). This week, a lurch forward again with a 5 pound loss. The crazy part of it is that this loss pretty much happened over 3 of the 7 days this week (Monday-Wednesday). I couldn't weigh in on Sunday since I was at the camper but on Saturday I was a pound up based on Friday's number!

While it's exciting to see these big drops, it would be healthier and just plain better over all to post a gradual half-pound to a pound loss a week to average 3 pounds over 4 weeks versus having three "up" weeks followed by a big "down" week, to average the same 3 pounds in 4 weeks. I don't get it. I feel like my eating is not directly reflecting my weight gain/loss numbers. The only thing I can surmise is that either there is a delay and/or water consumption is a key factor. The amount of water I drank last week is the one thing that varied from the previous weeks. I was committed to losing this week and I knew I had eaten some salty foods (at least more salty than normal). To help, I drank tons of extra water to flush the salt out (like 100-110 ounces a day). Maybe that's the key. I'll try to keep that up to see what happens.

This week:
-5 pounds (shriek!) for the week;
-3 pounds for the milestone;
-84.2 total

I made my exercise goal, exercising 5 days for a total of 285 minutes (goal is 270).

Until later . . .

Think Smart. Eat Well. Move More.
