Tiger Tracks

Well, I'm not sure what I'm thinking but I registered for the Tiger Tracks 5K at the MN Zoo. I can run 5K (3 miles). In fact, I can run more than that (around 4.5 miles, currently). What I am I trying to prove? Why am I electing to pay $30 to run in a race? Because I can, I guess. The registration fee also goes to pay for conservation at the zoo.

But, seriously, why? I'm thinking maybe I needed a new goal. Since I'm in 'maintenance' with the whole weight thing, I think I need something else to strive towards. Earlier, I said I wanted to be able to run 5 miles (in one shot!) by the end of summer -9/30/08. I'm close to that. I want to add to that. In addition to running 5 miles, I want to work on running three miles more quickly. Last night I ran about 4.25 miles (and walked .75) in 1 hour. For the Tiger Tracks 5K, I want to finish in less than 30 minutes, that's quicker than a 10 min/mile pace. I'd love to do it in 25 mines or so.

I know I can finish. And I think I can do it in 30 or less. I've got a month to get ready.

Today, I'm 7.6 pounds away from my goal weight, 5 pounds to get within the range I've allotted where I'll consider myself "on goal". Since I see more running in my future, hopefully the goal weight is in my future too!

Wanda - I am so impressed by what you are doing. It's been almost 2 years I've "watched" in admiration for the action you've taken. You go girl!!!
