MS 6: Week 2 Check-In

It's been a pretty mild week. Nothing too exciting has happened since my last check-in. After the stellar week last week, I guess I was kind of planning on a mellow week this week. After being down .4, up .2, down .2 up .2. . . (you get the point), I finished this week off at a whopping -.2. I guess it's technically better than having a zero week, or an up week. But, still, blah. My official numbers for this check-in are -.2 for the week, -6 for the milestone, and -44 total.

I made my exercise goals both in total minutes and in the split between cardio and weight lifting. Finally, the weights on my biceps went up. I didn't think it ever would. That seems to be the one area where my progress appears slow to me. Go figure.

I'm considering joining the Anytime Fitness that is just a couple of blocks from my house. I really only need (or think I need?) the membership for my weight lifting. For some of my exercises (back, legs, chest), now that I'm getting stronger, the modifications for my home use and/or the weights that I have at home are limiting. I'm wondering if using their machines and free weights will give me a better, more rounded, workout. The down side is that they require a 12 or 18 month membership. If it wasn't for the 12-month membership, I'm pretty sure I'd give it a try for a month or two to see how it works out. But, that required commitment is causing me to consider this thoroughly. It's about $15 cheaper than the Lifetime that is near my house and the parking situation is much better at Anytime. The parking was one of the reasons I stopped going to Lifetime a few years ago. There were times when after having driven out there, I left without working out because I couldn't find a place to park. It's not so bad in the spring/summer/fall, when walking a couple blocks when you're hot and sweaty isn't a big deal. In the heart of winter, I can't believe walking in freezing temperatures in that condition is good for me. They really need a parking ramp. I have until 1/31 to be able to join without paying an initiation fee. I need to call them and find out what the penalty is if I want to cancel early. So, I'm thinking about it -- a 12 month commitment, another fee towards health/fitness, having to go someplace else to workout (I really like the convenience of doing it at home). If you have anything you think I should consider, let me know!

Until later. . .

Think Smart. Eat Well. Move More.
