MS7: Week 6 Check-In

For some unexplained reason, I ended up having a good final week to this milestone. I had several things going against me which should have caused me to have a flat, if not an up, week. I was out of town Friday through Sunday where I didn't have an opportunity to exercise (Sat or Sun) and the food available for meals and snacks was delicious but not healthy or nutritious. I'm pretty sure I ate too much too. To top things off, I started getting a cold on Friday night; which has totally zapped my strength and energy (but not my appetite!). So, I haven't exercised since Friday morning. I was hoping to get back at it today. But based on how I'm feeling now, it's not likely to happen. Yesterday, I cancelled my personal training appointment that was scheduled for today. If I cancel with 24 hours notice or more, there's no penalty. I suspected that I wouldn't be back to normal and didn't want to spend the money if I wasn't able to give it my all. I am hoping that if I rest (not exercise) I'll recover quicker. You know, the 'drink extra fluids and get plenty of rest' theory? Any way. . .

I am down 2.6 pounds for this week -- honestly, all of it came (or left as the case is) in the last two days. I was down a little bit (.8) prior to the weekend, but then gained 2+ pounds over the weekend. How I dropped 3.8 pounds in two days is beyond me. That put me at -6.8 pounds for the milestone and -56 total.

I wonder if there is some type of 'delay' with exercise and weight-loss. When I look over the last couple of milestones, there is a very consistent pattern that a week where I met or exceeded my exercise goals is followed by a week of a gain or no weight loss. Then, a week where I missed my exercise goals is followed by a week of weight loss. Another pattern, I started this week down 2.6, had 4 weeks of ups and downs, and ended with another week of down 2.6. I can only imagine what it'd be like to have consistency! Hmmmph.

For Milestone 8, I'm going to shoot for losing 7 pounds and exercising 270 minutes (3 @ 60 minutes and 2 @ 45 minutes). I hardly ever make the 10 pound goal (only maybe 2 or 3 times out of 7 tries). 7 pounds is totally doable.

Until later. . .

Think Smart. Eat Well. Move More.
